What is Reiki?
Reiki is a Japanese energy-healing practice that promotes relaxation, balance, and the body’s natural ability to heal. Used in over 800 U.S. hospitals and practiced by many trained nurses, it often complements conventional care to reduce pain and support overall well-being.
Like acupuncture and cupping, Reiki works with the body’s energetic systems to restore balance disrupted by stress, injury, or illness. It treats the whole person—body, mind, and spirit—encouraging a state of harmony and optimal health. Each experience is unique, as the energy intuitively flows to where it is needed most.
What to expect
Each session is tailored to your individual needs and typically lasts 60–90 minutes, incorporating chakra balancing, meditation, breathwork, and sound healing. Upon arrival, Sofia will welcome you into the Aprica Healing studio where you’ll discuss your intentions for the session before removing your shoes and lying comfortably on a massage table.
During the session, Sofia guides you through the breathwork and meditation and gently places her hands in a series of non-intrusive positions on or just above the body. The experience is fully passive—simply relax and allow the energy to flow. You may choose to rest, observe your breath, or enjoy the music as the session unfolds.
Afterward, you’ll be gradually guided out of relaxation, with time to stretch, hydrate, and reflect on your experience. Sofia may share insights about energetic imbalances and how they were addressed.
Each Reiki experience is unique. Many people report deep relaxation and an enhanced sense of well-being, while others notice sensations such as warmth, tingling, emotional release, or visual imagery. In some cases, effects are subtle and may continue to unfold in the hours or days following the session.
